Location Location Location... Logistics Logistics Logistics... My client's logo design is made up of approximately 400 people. All costs in Chicago were fine, except our main image: our "extras" cost. It was out of control. The answer: Miami, Florida! A little used Tamiami airport runway. By saving in just this one area was enough to save the client thousands, even considering our air fare, hotel, meals, etc. We had scheduled the crane shopping/ rental/ delivery, location search/ rental, permits, red shirt delivery, casting service/ releases, marking the scaled chalk logo on the ground, payments, walkie talkies and bullhorns, plus 2,001 telephone calls. My client, crew and I even had a meal or two squeezed into our extremely hectic, self-imposed schedule. A set-up time (about three days) to shoot time ratio (less than three hours) was typically disproportionate as usual. Logistics of this location were handled impeccably by all; and we had a fun time doing it. Ask me how. Oh, we actually saved on hair and make-up, too. Thank you to everybody.
