Art Director, Jaime Flores of Goble & Associates awarded us a project to work on which was a real thing of beauty. The shot was for an incredible product called Fortical, which is a nasal spray that helps women fight bone loss. Our casting challenge was to find a female model that when seated, her back view was statuesque and replicated the strength and beauty of a cello. The design of the neck and strings of the cello were to become one with the woman's vertebrae. We had called talent agencies requesting composites of female models of the correct age range and body structure. Length or color of their hair was unimportant, as we decided to go with a short wig. After making our initial composite selections, the talent came to an on- camera casting at our studio. Wearing bathing suits, the models individually sat down with their backs to us for a casting photo. When the casting session was completed we sat down with Jaime and reviewed each and every choice. The body had to be a perfect fit. We photographed the model talent and cello separately on the same color background, which was then composited by Jaime and the agency. The result was this wonderful image, wonderful ad and truly a thing of beauty – so beautiful that the ad agency has made it one of several "art pieces" that hang on their agency walls.
